ST. JOHN’S FAMILY NIGHTS
Young families are invited to hang out together, share food and drink, and watch the children entertain eachother. It has become a highlight for we parents who need to remember to laugh together and bask in the love and light of our children… while sipping a glass of wine with other adults! Low-pressure, come as you are, and do family night right. If you’ve never made it, this is the year! Stay tuned for dates and info!

Pageant Sunday

Pageant 2018 drawing
Drawing by Finn Moore, grade 6.

This Sunday is our annual Christmas Pageant! That means there will not be any Sunday School classes – all children who are NOT participating in the pageant should go to church for the 10:00 service. Arrive a little early for a good seat to see everything! The nursery will remain open for our youngest.

If your child would *like* to participate but has not been involved in rehearsals, you can still show up! We try to make it easy to jump in as a sheep or an angel. There’s a dress rehearsal on Saturday which you are welcome to attend, or you can just come and make yourself known on Sunday morning in Thaxter Hall. Kids will be arriving btw 9-9:15 to get into costume. Let me know if you have any questions: ashley@stjohnsnh.org

Teenagers and big kids – we need your help too! We need banner bearers to walk the big banners down the aisle and helpers with the night sky… Nathan and Lizzie are good contacts for those jobs 🙂

Our upcoming Sunday schedule will look as follows:

  • Dec 23 – Pageant (No classes, nursery open)
  • Dec 30 – No Children/Youth Programs (Nursery closed)
  • Jan 6 – Sunday School and Youth Groups resume at 9:30AM

A friendly reminder that our musical rehearsals will being on Sunday Jan 6th. This year we are doing Willy Wonka – performance will be Feb 16 & 17. If you’re interested in learning more about this, let me know!

Youth Halloween Party

Halloween 2018

After Youth Choir Rehearsal (4-5:30), we invite youth group members (6th and up + all junior choir members) to join us in the Philbrick Room for a festive costume party! Our group will attend the Portsmouth Parade at 7:00PM and we will provide transportation!

PLEASE LET US KNOW IF YOU WANT A RIDE HOME FOR YOUR CHILD/REN.

We will need a headcount to coordinate this – your response is appreciated. $10 per child.

Do you know about Choir School?

How much do you know about The Choir School at St. John’s?

Did you know that the Choir School…
…is a tuition-free after-school music program?
…provides transportation for Portsmouth residents?
…includes individualized instruction on piano and voice?
…is available to any student in grades 3 through 8?
…runs on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, beginning September 18?

ONLINE ENROLLMENT NOW OPEN!

We are heading into our 4th year of Choir School, and we are so excited for a year full of community through music.

“My daughter was painfully shy. She had trouble making friends because she was so self-conscious. The transformation we have seen in her is incredible and we are so happy. She will now sing and perform in front of audiences, has joined the musical production at the church, and we no longer think of her as a shy kid; and we are no longer worried about her socially. We are so grateful to the choir school for making this program available to any student.” – Amy-Lynn, mother of a student
